If there ever was an 'ideal' home birth, this would have been it!
Mom & dad labored peacefully together in their room, while the midwives occasionally checked in on them to check heart tones of baby, and to see how mom was progressing; Hands-off, intuitive, peaceful, family-centered. This mama honestly did not look, nor act, like she was late in labor! The midwives and I went back downstairs to get a snack and to chat a little bit, while giving the family some space to labor alone, but then we heard pounding on the ceiling: baby was coming out!!!!
We flew up the stairs, and quietly shuffled into the master bedroom, where we found her so focused on breathing her baby down, and out. Their 3rd baby boy was born in water, surrounded by so much love, and his two big brothers even got to witness it; Such a cool experience for them, and me. And look at that sweet midwife's face!!! It says it all: she LOVES her job (Spokane River Midwives). Every birth is such an honor to be a part of, each story so unique and beautiful. Congratulations to the 'G' fam!!
