This chunk-a-mink was my third baby of 2014, and was just a great little man for his session!
Love his rolls and his gorgeous thick dark hair. Such a handsome guy already… The lovely bonnet/wrap pair you see is made by the amazing Ashlee, of Knotty Crochet Nook.

Oh, this sweet little girl was an absolute fantastic sleeper for me, making the session a breeze!
A few "secrets" on getting the most out of your newborn session: - Keep your newborn awake for at least an hour before the session - Give them a nice full feeding, just as you show up to the studio - If you can, bring a small bottle of pumped milk (or extra formula) for any top-offs - Pacifiers help tremendously, even if it is for only these few hours I heat up my studio to make it nice and cozy for baby, turn on a white noise machine to comfort them even more. Then I add a tight swaddle, and a good "shhhh" in their ear…you almost always will have a very asleep baby on your hands, perfect for the newborn session! I could not have asked for a better model for this wintery maternity session! Spokane had a beautiful dusting of snow one night, and so we had to take advantage of it before it melted (which was the day next…of course...). I was honored to be able to photograph her previous pregnancy, and even more so with this one! Amanda is my first repeat maternity client, and that makes me so incredible happy, and humbled. So excited to see her beautiful family grow!
The best time to schedule your maternity session is in your second trimester, and I recommend doing the session between 28-36 weeks, depending on how you feel and how much of a bump you have. If you are also interested in investing in a newborn portrait session, that is scheduled at the same time as your maternity session: I save your EDD (expected due date) in my calendar, and you get ahold of me within 48 hours of baby being born so we can plan on a session within the first 2 weeks of life, to ensure a sleepy, flexible new baby. I was so honored to be able to photograph this handsome rainbow baby, and his beautiful mother at her maternity session. So excited to be able to watch him grow into a little man!
This stunning pregnant mama was meant for autumn. When I was pregnant and people said I was "glowing", that was really sweat…I'm not gonna lie. But this gorgeous woman…she really did glow and radiate beauty. She welcomed her handsome rainbow baby boy mid-December.
