This mama contacted me about documenting her scheduled cesarean section, and to show everyone that every birth truly matters, and that each one worthy of beautiful photographs to tell their story. Having an 'empowering birth' is really in the eye of the beholder, and will look different for each family; This birth was so incredibly empowering for this couple, after their first birth ended in an emergency c-section. I am beyond elated for them on the arrival of their second baby, a healthy boy! Everyone was so calm in the O.R., and this little man came out so quietly, and so gently. I knew mom was nervous when she didn't hear an immediate big cry...but when he finally did let one big cry out, the tears came flowing. He was quickly weighed, measured, and wrapped up, ready to be given to a very excited mom (with the nurse's steady hand to help). Once we were back in the recovery room, she gave him his first feeding, and he was a nursing champ! After waiting for an hour before any visitors could come in, their daughter was finally allowed to come in to meet her new little brother, and let me tell you...Total cuteness overload!!!! Just take a peek for yourself.
